Folk fundamentals is a great introduction to two major types of folk music – reels and jigs. You can take this course with any instrument that can play a melody.

You’ll be able to learn all the parts by ear, and then you can start putting them together into a full performance.

You can learn either the melody, or the accompaniment. What you’ll need:

  • Any melodic instrument can learn the tunes
  • A guitar, accordion or keyboard instrument can play the accompaniment

You’ll need to be able to play at about a grade 3 standard or higher.

You can see part of their set below.

Since their formation the duo have released 2 EPs, both of which have featured on BBC Introducing and in 2017 they won the International Pan Celtic Instrumental Duo competition in Ireland.
